Sub-Arctic Wildlife & Northern Lights Photo Tour

Join Chase and Jenni with Churchill Wild Safaris in Canada's Polar Bear capital near Churchill, Manitoba. Churchill Wild has developed a guiding technique to allow for their guests to safely walk with Polar Bears to get an eye level and lower. This provides us with the ultimate Polar Bear experience that is very humbling.

Walking with Polar Bears provides us with a rare opportunity for the best perspective for wildlife photography. On this expedition you can expect to see a variety of Sub-Arctic wildlife small and big. Each day we will have a morning walk and an afternoon walk to spot wildlife. This is not always an easy walk as some days we are walking for 3 hours each outing and session plus carrying your camera gear. But you are able to stay at the lodge to relax during any of the walking sessions.

The Polar Bears are waiting for the ice to freeze on the Hudson's Bay and they make their way alongside the coastline. Although the chances of seeing Polar Bears are very good, this is wildlife and they are unpredictable for where they'll be. There is absolutely no guarantee as we do not bait the wildlife.

Other wildlife encounters that we have experienced include Arctic Fox, Cross Fox, Red Fox, Wolverine, Snowy Owl, Ptarmigan, Arctic Hare and more.

Also if the skies are clear, the moonlight is weak, and there is geo-magnetic activity then we have the possibility of photographing Auroras/Northern Lights!

Both Seal River Lodge and Nanuk Lodge are the ultimate Sub Arctic luxury lodges that feature beautiful Canadian decor. The rooms are double occupancy and single supplement is available upon request for an additional charge. The lodges both have compounds with a surrounding fence and electrical safety fences around the main windows.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are scheduled throughout the day and provided by the wonderful Churchill Wild Chef and staff. The food is Canadian comfort food with desserts and Canadian wine and beer is available with dinner.

Frequently Asked Questions: Artica Adventures

Are you tours just for photographers?

No, not at all! Our trips are approximately 50/50% split of photographers and non-photographers. These trips are called photo tours as Jenni and I are instructing photography lessons hands on while we explore and sail. We have non-photographers (with iPhones, etc), beginners to expert photographers on our trips. It's the perfect learning grounds where you get to immerse yourself in nature and be surrounded by great people.

Why Artica Studios Adventure Photo Tours vs. Other Tours?

Jenni and I are so passionate about our tours we take small groups that are more intimate where we can connect with each one of our guests. We also pride ourselves on taking you to these remote locations that are extremely difficult to get to and otherwise unaffordable. Our tours are never over-priced as we want you to have a life changing experience and for you to share your experience (and photos) with family and friends and for them to be able to afford to have their own Artica Adventure experience.

Our tours are not just photography workshops, they are life changing experiences that will shape you as a person. Whatever your current understanding is of photography, our workshops will help you improve in a variety of areas, including composition, editing, business acumen, personal style development, work flow and more!

We are looking for positive, like-minded people to join our trips as it is most often the people who make the experience and everything else is just a bonus. We love animals and the environment and we care deeply about creating inspiration and action to help make the world a better  place.

Let's fall in love with the Canadian Sub Arctic together!
