THE HIGH ARCTIC IN SVALBARD, NORWAY
Join an early-season Svalbard photo expedition to witness the landscapes of Spitsbergen at their most wild as they emerge from the depths of winter. Led by our pro photographers, the emphasis on this expedition is to spend time in the field exploring and capturing the Arctic landscapes and wildlife before the spring thaw sets in. The mountains are snow-covered, and the sea ice fills the northern fjords, offering some great photo opportunities. This expedition takes place on MV Vikingfjord, a best-in-class ice-strengthened expedition ship with just 12 guests.

Early season photo expeditions are great for capturing frozen seascapes, sea ice and wintery landscapes.
A chance to encounter and photograph polar bears on the edge of the fjord ice.

Introducing the newest ship for Secret Atlas, MV Vikingfjord, a rugged ice-strengthened expedition vessel for 12 guests. New energy efficient engine and NOX cleaning fitted in 2023 offering the best environmental on a small ship with up to a 95% reduction in NOX emissions.
Expect cruise ship comfort on a small ship with 9 ensuite cabins, an open plan saloon with rear facing windows, and on on deck hot tub and sauna for the ultimate luxury.
Vikingfjord offers single en-suite cabins with no single supplement for solo travellers.

Embarking on our Svalbard photography expedition was like stepping into a photographer's dream. Our intimate group of just 12 enthusiasts ensured that we had the freedom to adapt and truly savor every moment. We explored this Arctic wonderland on Zodiacs, allowing us to silently drift on the water and capture magical wildlife encounters. The experience was unforgettable as we were able to get up close and personal with ice formations and even some friendly seals.
The early season brought us frozen landscapes that seemed straight out of a fairytale. Svalbard's mesmerizing sea ice and polar bears against the stunning frozen backdrop were a wildlife photographer's paradise. Glaciers and pack ice offered unique opportunities for incredible shots. This Svalbard photo tour was a journey into the heart of Arctic beauty, where every moment was an opportunity to capture the extraordinary.
