Last year's photographic tour to Campbell River for the annual "Eagle Show" was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Our departure time was just about the same time as the 2025 in early July.
Witnessing hundreds of eagles descending upon the river in a stunning display of nature's power and precision was a memory etched in my heart. Some of our guests' favorite moments were capturing these majestic birds in action as they gracefully plunged into the water to snatch their prey, their talons gripping with unmatched finesse.
The rugged beauty of Vancouver Island's landscapes added a surreal backdrop to our photography, with lush forests and pristine rivers offering endless opportunities for breathtaking shots. The guides ensured our guests were always in the right place at the right time, making every moment count.
The weather was super hot during this time of year so we needed tons of sunscreen plus sunglasses during our boating commute.
I have always wanted to photograph eagles and this trip I was able to learn, fail and try again as there were so many eagles around at any given time during the king tide.
As a solo female traveler, I'm always cautious about which groups I join, from the moment I joined an Artica tour, I felt like I'd found my tribe.
Chase hand-selected an amazing group of fellow photographers, and the camaraderie that developed was one of the highlights of my trip. We laughed, shared photography tips, and bonded over our shared love for nature.
I've lived on Vancouver Island for years, but for some reason, I never made it to Campbell River until now, and let me tell you, it was eye-opening! I was genuinely excited about the "Eagle Show" tour, and it exceeded all my expectations. Witnessing these majestic eagles in their natural habitat was a revelation. The way they effortlessly swooped down to snatch salmon from the river left me in awe.
But what made this tour truly special was the insight and knowledge shared by Chase and the group. Learning how to capture these birds in flight on my camera was such a gift.
It was a reminder of how much beauty and wonder exist right in our backyard. I couldn't be happier with my decision to finally explore Campbell River and experience this unforgettable tour.
