Visiting Chilko Lake, British Columbia, Canada is a dream experience for many world travelers who are looking for unrivaled perspectives on Grizzly bears. This tour is unlike any other due to the remote location, intimate viewing area and consistent bear sightings.
Stay in luxury safari-style tents, just above the lake where grizzlies are regular visitors. Our tour averages 20 grizzlies per day - with a 3.5 hour photo session each morning and again each evening, this is truly the tour for those who want to amplify your grizzly bear portfolio.
Your professional photography guides will help you capture the best photographs of grizzly bears by instructing you before each excursion, while in the field (techniques, settings, composition) and helping you with editing while enjoying our luxury resort stay.
Price includes a float plane from Vancouver, a Red Seal Chef and all meals and alcohol as well as luxury safari tent accommodations. Flights to Vancouver, visas and camera gear/rentals are not included.
Each day we'll wake up with a healthy breakfast then head out to the water right after for world-class photography opportunities.

Logistics & General Itinerary
ARRIVAL AIRPORT: Fly into Vancouver International Airport, airport code: YVR.
HOTEL IN VANCOUVER BEFORE & AFTER: We recommend you arrive in Vancouver at least one day before your departure and stay one day after you fly out of Chilko Lake. We have discounted hotel rates, during your meeting with an Artica team member we will provide you with Vancouver hotel options.
FLIGHT TO CHILKO LAKE (INCLUDED): To get to Chilko Lake, you'll have a chartered float plane included in your photo tour price from Vancouver, BC.
DAY TO DAY GENERAL ITINERARY
Day 1 September 15th: We fly into Chilko Lake, we'll check-in to your tent rooms, have lunch and then go out to photograph the grizzly bears.
Days 2, 3, 4, Sept 16, 17, 18th: Breakfast, then head out to photograph the grizzlies for 3.5 hours, come back for lunch, then head out again for 3.5 hours. We'll come back for dinner and drinks and then we'll have some editing sessions and relaxation. We have an amazing Red Seal Chef preparing our meals and all alcohol is included in the price.
Day 5 September 19th: We fly out of Chilko Lake, we'll check-out and have breakfast and then fly back to Vancouver on the float plane.

- Mirrorless or full-frame camera (2 bodies for professionals)
- Desired max focal length reach is 600mm to 800mm
- Sample lenses: 100-400mm, 200-600mm, 100-500mm
- Sample setup: Camera Body 1 with 600mm and Camera Body 2 with a 70-200mm or 100-500mm.
- Extenders: 1.4x recommended
- Tripods not recommended
- Monopods are recommended
- No drones with bears but can be used for general lake shots
- Waterproof / drybag for gear on boat
